The ingredients needed to make Shepard’s pie:

1. Prepare 300 g potatoes (peeled and diced)
2. Take 400 g beef mince
3. Take 2 carrots (peeled and diced)
4. Prepare 1 onion (diced)
5. Get 1 pint good beef gravy
6. Get 2 tsp garlic (minced)
7. Prepare to taste Salt and pepper
8. Get 1 tsp mixed herbs
9. Prepare 1 tbsp marmite
10. Prepare 2 tbsp plain flour

Steps to make Shepard’s pie:

1. Brown mince off in a pan and drain excess fat. Meanwhile add potatoes to a pan of boiling water and boil until soft.
2. In a saucepan add a little oil and fry off onion, carrot and garlic until softened. add salt, pepper, mixed herbs and flour stir well and cook for 1 minute. Add mince,marmite and gravy, stir well bring to the boil and then reduce to simmer for 20 minutes.
3. Meanwhile mash the potatoes with a little milk and butter, season well. In a suitable dish layer the mince mixture then top with the mashed potatoes. Flatten out to create a smooth surface. Then score with a fork to make a pattern, sprinkle with grated cheese and bake at 190c for 45 minutes until golden brown.
