  3. Add flour & stir, cook a couple more minutes & season with salt & pepper
  4. Add ONLY the liquid from the clams & the bottled clam juice
  5. Cook about 20 minutes until potatoes are fork tender
  6. Remove from heat add reserved clams & cream, stir
  7. Re season with salt & pepper, if needed
  8. Crumble bacon & add back into chowder & top with chopped chives

Heat the butter in a stockpot over medium-high heat. Add the celery and sweet onion and cook,. A great, hearty soup to start a meal off with, or can even be a meal in itself. Clam chowder is especially tasty when it's served with a sprinkle of fresh thyme, bacon crumbles and crispy oyster crackers on top. Add just enough water to cover mixture.
